Education and Certification

Aimee Higgins completed her Master of Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM)image and Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) at Pacific College of Health and Science - Chicago.  Aimee’s doctor of acupuncture and herbal medicine program of study spanned five and a half years of over 3,500 credit hours with more than 600 clinical hours including an internship at the Heartland Pain Clinic. Pacific College’s degrees are accredited by WSCUC, the gold standard in regional academic accreditation.  Aimee is a nationally board-certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in the State of Illinois and certified by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle technique.

 

Diplomate of Oriental Medicine

NCCAOM Certified

A Diplomate of Oriental Medicine is a practitioner who is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®) and has met the certification requirements for both acupuncture and Chinese herbology. It is a considerable professional achievement to earn the designation Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). NCCAOM certification indicates to employers, patients, and peers that one has met national standards for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture and Chinese herbology as defined by the acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) profession. Certified Provider of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncture

Aimee completed training through The National Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncturists (NAHPCA) as a CPHPCA.  The NAHPCA offers professional certification dedicated to broadening the circle of care for patients at the end-of-life to include Asian Medicine (also called Oriental or Traditional Chinese Medicine – a system of medicine that includes acupuncture, Chinese herbs, bodywork, and numerous other healing modalities).
